So you want to play with dead people huh? You know that may be illegal in some villages and towns, but hey, nothing better than a date that never says "NO... or so I hear *ahem* Reanimating the dead... oh yes, we can do that as well. By means of the spell Ritual Animatus (learned at level 14 and upgraded later at level 42) the necromancer is able to reanimate the corpse of those recently deceased. This type of pet is in addition to your normal abomination and Minions and is... [read more]

Minions you say? Well of course Necromancers have minions, grafted fleshy ones, dead ones, ghost ones, nasty smelly rotting ones... ahh, you mean the three specific types of minions. Why didn't you say that?!? Necromancers can summon additional pets through rituals performed on corpses although these pets are not persistent pets like the abomination and are not as controllable. These pets serve their master for 10 minutes before returning from whence they came. While one... [read more]

Welcome to Vanguard: Saga of Heroes! You are now one of the first to witness the exciting, dangerous, and ever-changing world of Telon. Telon is a living world, and like any world its early days are going to be fraught with turbulence. Expect us to have to “patch” any cracks as they appear for the first days. We know you are excited to explore the world we created for you, and we are equally excited to have you here. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the... [read more]

Parts, parts, who's got the parts? Send out your dead! Gotta love being a necromancer, I mean who else dissects their fallen enemies looking for good salvageable parts to use in their monstrous buddy the abomination. These parts are referred to as "grafts" Grafts sound great, but before he outfits his faithful dead minion with these spiffy innards he must first harvest these parts from the dead. The necromancer learns a new ability at level 10 which is called necropsy.... [read more]

Picture this... you are at a gathering of friends chugging down a few ales in a local Hathor Zhi Pub when one of the gathered revelers suddenly moans loudly, the flesh falling off his skeletal frame in chunks leaving only his standing skeleton where once there was a flesh and blood Dark Elf. Definitely fun at parties! No worries though, our entertaining dead guy is a talented necromancer who knows the form of bones spell. At level 30, the necromancer must undergo a quest for this... WOW WOW! I want to be necromancer! They sound really groovy and all that kinda overly enthusiastic stuff. Below are the allowed races for necromancers and a brief description of each of them. Dark Elf: Destined to rule the world and enslave all others, the dark elves must hurdle one last obstacle: their own kind. As a people, the dark elves are driven by one desire, the accumulation of power that is rightly theirs by... [read more]

The Necromancer in Vanguard deals with all sorts of creepy dead things... flesh golem type persistent pets, temporary undead minions, raising the dead to serve your purposes, exploding corpses and showering nearby enemies with bone shrapnel and gore, cursing enemies, draining the life from their foes, taking the form of the undead themselves (always fun at parties)..... The joys of being a necromancer go on and on. This is the only dedicated pet class in Vanguard at this time. Their... [read more]

Notice:
This patch corrects the problem which caused some characters to lose progress. It will also return characters to previous high points in their level progression. We thank everyone for your continued cooperation and patience during this time!
Gameplay:

Gameplay Notes - Many cases of "lost corpses" are now free for summoning at the altar. ("Free" meaning the experience that can be recovered by looting the corpse/tombstone will remain on it, and there will be no durability hit). - Charmed NPC that are not a fixed duration have a significantly greater chance to break early. NPCs higher than the casters level still have an increased break... [read more]

This was my Beta necro flying around on a griffon that I won in a game of teletag during the end of beta festivities. Really neat looking pet and damned useful for exploring those hard to reach places. (Anyone catch the Titan AE song reference) [read more]

Lifebane (Site Admin) A bit about myself I suppose is in order. First off I am an online game fan from way back when, dare I say back in the MUD days. But then one day I played this game that changed it all for me, Ultima Online turned this online gaming thing into what future MMO's would be. I have jumped around through most every MMO that has been made and have currently been spending my online time in Vanguard. I have been involved with similar sites in... [read more]

Well now, the site itself is basically run and funded by Lifebane and Jonaphin. As you have seen there are some banner ads and such but the revenue generated by them is minimal due to the volume of traffic that a class specific one game site generates. We have not asked for nor received any kinds of donations or outside funding previously but since we have been having community members ask, we have setup a method for community members to help support the site and it's continued... VGNecro.com was created to be THE location for the vanguard necromancer to come to when they needed information or simply wanted to discuss their class with other like minded Vanguard Necromancer players. While the initial framework and content was born from the twisted minds of Lifebane and Jonaphin, the site and the community itself have been a major factor in what the site has evolved into. There have been those members that have stuck out or their individual accomplishments and... [read more]
